With children ages 4-10, I incorporate Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), in which your child will express thoughts and emotions through play in a safe, accepting space. CCPT promotes emotional regulation, boosts confidence, and improves communication skills. I involve parents and guardians through this process by providing regular communication and recommendations.
When working with preteens and teens, I focus on validating their personal experiences, while highlighting their strengths and core values. I incorporate art and other creative techniques, as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Solution-Focused approaches. We practice viewing thoughts and feelings through a mindful lens and accepting feelings as they come. My goal is for teens and children to walk away feeling empowered, knowing they can take practical steps towards positive change.
